Dark Skies

I tread the pathways of the night,
The moonlight caressing my soul.
I choose not to rebel and fight
Against the darkness of the sky.

The swaying trees can feel my fear,
They tell me of my secret dole —
To fight — rebel, right now — right here
Against the darkness of the sky.

I keep on walking — empty shell!
I am too weak to play this role,
Too terrified to duel well
Against the darkness of the sky.

The dark is privy to my fright,
Its eyes upon my wary stroll…
I choose not to rebel and fight
Against the darkness of the sky.

Thanks to Jane Dougherty for a wonderful poetry challenge. The kyrielle form was fun to play with.

  1. I choose not to rebel and fight
Against the darkness of the sky.
I also choose lightness not darkness….the sky…..at night lights up the world with the moon. I am in awe of the words chosen for such a positive poem. I have books of poems I should publish, maybe one day. But you, YES!! DO IT. ~Jackie
