Prompt 25. Let the Right One In

My prison is lonely
and cold
It’s unfair
Why was I thrown
into pits of despair?

I look through the bars
at the luminous sky
Why, why, why?

I gave up long since
I do not expect
salvation to knock on my door
But somebody knocks
my heart almost stops
executioner?
savior?
death?

I open the door
ever wary
ever scared
The visitor carries an axe…

He cuts down my walls
and patiently stalls
the guards
as I make my way out
